A 2025 Ford Fiesta on the driveway of a Nottingham owner, one original key working, owner wanted a second programmed without booking the car into a dealer for half a day. We came out to the driveway, cut a matching blade, programmed the transponder, and paired the remote the same visit.
The call
Add-key jobs are the opposite of AKL in complexity. There's an existing key to authenticate against, so the immobiliser doesn't need a full decrypt cycle - it just needs to accept a new transponder into its existing approved list. That keeps the programming time short and the job simple.
A Ford main dealer can do an add-key, but the typical route involves booking the car in, leaving it a few hours, and paying the dealer's blended labour rate on top of the blank. A mobile locksmith on the driveway skips all of that.
How we programmed the key
First job was cutting the blade. The 2025 Fiesta uses the HU101 profile, the same family as earlier Focus and Transit blades. With the original key in hand, we measured the cuts directly off the customer's key and cut the new blade to match on the van.
Programming ran on TrueCode via OBD. With the original key present and authenticating the session, TrueCode wrote the new transponder into the immobiliser's approved list and paired the remote to the central locking and boot release. Nothing was wiped - the original key carries on working exactly as it did before.
Tested on every door, the boot, and an ignition start before pack-down.
Outcome
A fully working second key for the Fiesta, matching blade and programmed transponder. Both keys live - no dealer visit, no car off the driveway for half a day.
