Terms of Service
Last updated: 2 September 2026
These terms set out how we work, what you can expect from us, and what we need from you. They apply to every locksmith and auto locksmith job we carry out, and to your use of this website.
Please read them before booking. If anything here is unclear, call us on 0115 647 1903 and we will explain it.
Who we are

Booking a job
A contract between us starts when you accept a price for a job and we agree to attend. Bookings are taken by phone, by message or through the contact form on this site.
We work as a mobile service and do not hold customer premises. That means we come to the vehicle or the property, and the job is carried out where the vehicle or door actually is.
Where you ask us to attend an emergency, we will give you a realistic arrival window over the phone before we set off. That window is an estimate based on distance and traffic at the time, and it is not a guaranteed arrival time.
Quotes and prices
You are quoted a price before any work starts, and that is the price you pay for the job as quoted. There is no call-out fee, so nothing is added for turning up.
All prices include VAT and cover labour, parts and travel within our service area.
Some prices are published as starting prices. Vehicle key prices apply to mainstream vehicles at a reachable location; prestige and specialist vehicles are quoted individually, because the work and the parts cost more. In every case you are quoted your actual price before we begin.
If the job turns out to be different from what was described on the phone, we will stop and agree a revised price with you before continuing. We will not carry out extra chargeable work without your agreement.
Out-of-hours rates apply after 8pm and at weekends and bank holidays. Where they apply, they are included in the price you are quoted.
Payment
Payment is due on completion of the job. We accept card, bank transfer and cash.
Card payments are taken through a secure Stripe payment link, and bank transfers go to the account named on your invoice. Please quote the invoice number and pay the exact figure shown, as short payments are not picked up automatically.
You receive an itemised invoice for every job, detailing the work carried out, the hardware fitted and the standard it meets. Customers regularly need that detail for an insurance claim or a tax record, so it is provided as a matter of course.
What we need from you
Proof of ownership and entitlement
Before we cut or program a key for a vehicle, we ask to see the V5C logbook or equivalent proof that the vehicle is yours. Please have it ready for when we arrive.
Before we open or change locks at a property, we need someone there who can confirm access and authorise the work. That is normally all we ask for.
We may also ask for photo identification or proof that you live or work at the address where the circumstances call for it. If that applies to your job we will tell you when you book, not on the doorstep.
These checks are how a legitimate locksmith operates. Where we do ask for proof and it cannot be produced, we will not carry out the work, and there is no charge for the visit.
Access and safe working
We need reasonable access to the vehicle or the door, and somewhere safe to work. If a vehicle is somewhere we cannot safely reach or work on it, we will tell you and agree what happens next.
Please tell us about anything relevant before we attend, including previous work on the lock, existing damage or a fault that has been reported elsewhere.
Carrying out the work
We open locks by non-destructive methods wherever the lock allows it. Some locks cannot be opened without damage, and some are already damaged before we arrive.
Where damage is likely or necessary, we will tell you what we propose to do and what it will cost before we start, and we will only proceed with your agreement.
Before we leave a vehicle key job, we test the key, the central locking and the engine start so you can see the work is finished.
Our guarantee
Our work is covered by a workmanship guarantee. If something we fitted or programmed fails because of the work we did, contact us and we will put it right.
The guarantee covers our own work. It does not cover a separate fault, later damage, wear to other parts of the door or vehicle, or work carried out by somebody else after our visit. Parts carry whatever warranty the manufacturer provides.
Cancellations
Where we agree a job at your home or roadside rather than at business premises, you have a legal right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 to cancel within 14 days.
Emergency and same-day work cannot wait 14 days. When you ask us to start straight away, you are asking us to begin within that cancellation period. You keep the right to cancel, but if you cancel after we have started you pay for the work already carried out.
If you need to cancel or move a booking, tell us as early as you can. We handle cancelled and aborted visits case by case, and we will agree with you at the time what is fair - including where you gain entry yourself before we arrive, or where nobody is at the address.
If we cannot complete the job, you do not pay for it.
Your legal rights
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 our service must be carried out with reasonable care and skill, and any goods we supply must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described.
If a service is not carried out with reasonable care and skill, you are entitled to have it put right, or to a price reduction where that is not possible.
Our responsibility to you
We carry public liability insurance for the work we do. If you need confirmation of cover for an insurer, a landlord or a managing agent, contact us and we will provide it.
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill.
We do not limit our liability in any way that the law does not allow. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, and for breach of your statutory rights as a consumer.
We are not responsible for faults or damage that existed before we attended, or for the condition of a lock, door or vehicle that has not been part of the work we carried out.
Complaints
If something is wrong, tell us first so we can put it right. Call 0115 647 1903 or email hello@autelix.co.uk with your invoice number and what happened.
We will acknowledge your complaint and tell you how we intend to resolve it.

Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page at the time you book is the version that applies to your job, and the date at the top shows when it last changed.
